Building Healthier and Stronger Communities Since 1993
Catholic Health Association (CHA) is a regional unit of the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI), committed to promoting holistic health, community empowerment, and sustainable development among vulnerable communities.
Over the years, CHA has implemented community-centered initiatives focused on preventive healthcare, women empowerment, herbal medicine promotion, livelihood development, adolescent wellbeing, and tribal development through participatory and sustainable approaches.

Guided by compassion, dignity, and community participation, CHA works to strengthen vulnerable communities through holistic health, social empowerment, sustainable development, and people-centered initiatives across Bihar, Jharkhand and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Our Objectives
Guided by community participation and sustainable development principles, CHA works towards strengthening healthcare systems, empowering vulnerable communities, and promoting social wellbeing through integrated grassroots initiatives.
1. Promote Community Health
Strengthen preventive and community-based healthcare systems to improve access to quality healthcare services among underserved populations.
2. Empower Women & Adolescents
Enhance leadership, awareness, education, health, and livelihood opportunities for women, adolescent girls, and marginalized groups.
3. Strengthen Sustainable Livelihoods
Support vulnerable communities through livelihood promotion, skill development, self-help groups, and capacity-building initiatives.
4. Promote Herbal & Natural Medicine
Revive and encourage the sustainable use of traditional healing knowledge and medicinal plants for affordable community healthcare.
5. Support Tribal & Marginalized Communities
Work with tribal, rural, and socially excluded communities to improve social inclusion, dignity, resilience, and access to development opportunities.
6. Build Community Participation & Leadership
Encourage community ownership, grassroots leadership, volunteerism, and participatory approaches for sustainable social transformation.

Our Journey
Three Decades of Community Health, Empowerment & Sustainable Development
1993 – Establishment of CHA
Catholic Health Association (CHA) was established as a regional unit of the Catholic Health Association of India (CHAI) to strengthen community health initiatives and grassroots development efforts.
Expansion Across Bihar & Jharkhand
CHA expanded its outreach through collaboration with diocesan health units, member institutions, healthcare workers, and local communities across multiple districts.
Community Health & Herbal Medicine Initiatives
The organization strengthened preventive healthcare systems and promoted herbal and natural medicine practices through awareness, training, and community participation.
Women & Tribal Empowerment Programs
CHA initiated integrated development interventions focused on women empowerment, adolescent wellbeing, tribal development, livelihood promotion, and social inclusion.
Strengthening Grassroots Capacity Building
Through training programs, awareness campaigns, volunteer mobilization, and leadership development, CHA strengthened community participation and local capacities.
